The Perfect Composite To Start Polishing
Photography & Photoshop Course: Part 2
This is a critical stage in the image. The content is composited together without any artifacts showing. The photograph must look like it is a single raw file taken by the camera. The rough diamond we now polish into a sparkling jewel.
Course Part 2 – Photoshop
Constructing the photograph really begins with how to align exposures, then check the alignments are perfect. This is followed by cleaning; how to remove small dust spots up to large, complex object removal. Once clean, the image is sharpened in multiple stages. Finally, the color is adjusted to create the perfect composite.

Cleaning & Sharpening The Image
Photography & Photoshop Course: Part 2
Polishing begins with cleaning dust and removing distracting objects. There is no neutral content. Everything works for or against the photograph. Remove all that detracts from the story, so the story becomes clearer. Sharpening is next.
Course Part 2 – Photoshop
Contrast control is the next main subject. How to start putting some life and sparkle into the image, yet retain beautiful shadow detail and super readability. The first part we look at is the global contrast followed by local contrast; applying appropriate contrast to each major object in turn to make every object rich and alive.

Contrast – Global, Local, Dodge & Burn
Photography & Photoshop Course: Part 2
Contrast gives the photograph life and strength. Contrast is applied globally first, then locally to each major object and finally on a micro level with dodge and burn. The result is a technically good image, but impersonal looking.
Course Part 2 – Photoshop
Dodge and burn is the final contrast control technique; contrast on a micro level that makes a radical change to the detail, clarity and readability of the photograph. A whole session is dedicated to the subject because many criteria must be thought about when using the technique to create light, form and distance.
