PTGui Panoramic Photography.
Panoramic Photography Training | Novoflex & PTGui Workflow.
The Masterclass Goal: Artefact Free Compositing.
Standard wide-angle lenses often dictate your composition through physical distortion and exaggerated spatial distances. This course teaches you to overcome lens limitations by using “normal” focal lengths and panoramic heads to create expansive scenes that mirror how we naturally perceive the world. By moving beyond the constraints of a single frame, you implement a surgical system to correct architectural distortions and ensure sub-pixel accuracy. This approach prioritises image integrity and visual efficiency, ensuring your final assembly communicates your message without lens-induced artefacts, falling perspectives, or the structural failure of converging vertical lines.
Benefits for your photography.
1. Why it’s beneficial to shoot panoramic images. Using wide-angle lenses causes converging lines and leaning buildings. With a panoramic head and “normal” focal length lens, you maintain the correct perspective with architecture, ensuring your architectural images remain natural and with a minimal amount of distortion.
2. Master natural perspective with normal focal lengths. Avoid the ugly distortion and curvature of wide-angle glass. Using 35mm or 50mm lenses allows you to create expansive scenes that feel familiar and natural to the human eye, without exaggerated depth of field.
3. Eliminate visual friction and lens-induced artefacts. Significant distortions act like a barrier to understanding an image. Following this logical workflow produces photographs without curvature, ensuring your architectural or landscape message is communicated effectively, clearly, and without confusion.
4. Increase speed and accuracy with notched systems. Moving clouds and changing light require rapid execution. Use panoramic heads with indexed notches to rotate with total accuracy by feel, completing complex sequences in thirty seconds or less for perfect alignment.
5. Reduce equipment costs while increasing versatility. A single panoramic head offers more focal length options than a bag full of lenses. Achieve the results of expensive tilt-shift gear or technical cameras at a fraction of the cost.
