The Masterclass Goal: A central resource for ongoing learning.

Where can the photography enthusiast go to learn photography? Either a single concise workshop covering the entire photography workflow at one time, or short courses covering a specific element of that workflow. – The answer is that very few places offer consistent, in-depth professional knowledge. My concept is that you choose a short course, like a learning module. The module gives you the tools and knowledge to give you a head start, and at any time, you can use this follow-up session to critique your progress and offer an updated plan of action for your continued progress. You remain in control of the time frame and the speed at which you choose to learn without any commitments.

Benefits for your Photography.

1. My vision. Below are the options available to enthusiasts who wish to improve their photography; none are ideal. My concept combines a short learning module with self-study at your own pace and convenience; the best of both worlds. No great financial or time commitment, but a mentor you can call when needed.

2. University education. Needless to say, an enthusiast is unlikely to enrol in a long three-year university degree just to improve their photography. – Even if they did, much of what they learned would have no real-world or practical benefits for their photography. It would be too wide-ranging for their needs as a pastime.

3. YouTube and social media. Learning from diverse sources will create inconsistent quality and knowledge gaps. – Most social media only concentrate on basic camera knowledge, not the principles behind making pictures. The superficial approach to photography; not the intermediate or advanced knowledge you need to improve.

4. Photographers’ workshops. Attend another photographer’s workshop. However, the limitation is that they teach you how to reproduce their artistic vision and style using their subjects. – They don’t teach you the fundamental knowledge you need for the artistic freedom to create your own unique style as a unique individual.

5. Trial-and-error self learning. A very slow and painful way to learn, taking years with many false detours and dead ends. Trial-and-error is always a part of learning, but to take this approach from the very start is inefficient, whereas a course that sets the foundations and gives you a solid head start is a more efficient approach.
